LICENSED THERAPIST IN BOSTON, MA
JENNY SATWALEKAR, MSW
PSYCHOTHERAPIST TRAINEE
Hi! My name is Jenny and I am an Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) coach here in Boston. I specialize in targeted obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) treatment that is evidence-based and gets results. I am passionate about helping those with OCD regain their lives back and live them how they choose instead of how OCD dictates.
My story is a personal one. I suffered from severe OCD for as long as I can remember. When I finally received proper ERP treatment and saw unbelievable improvements, it changed my life. I decided then and there to change my trajectory and figure out a way to help others with this debilitating disorder. I now have the privilege to combine lived experience and targeted training to treat those suffering from OCD. Having been a long-time member of the OCD community, I have attended several OCD conferences held by the International OCD Foundation across the country, been involved with OCD groups on social media and attended several OCD walks as well.
After moving to Boston, I worked at the OCD Institute (“OCDI Junior”) residential program at McLean Hospital as a community residence counselor. I learned how to approach OCD from the other side of the experience and began my professional career in treating OCD. While still working at McLean, I began my master’s program with the intent of becoming an OCD therapist. I earned my master’s in social work from Western New Mexico University Online and completed my practicum internships in Massachusetts. I worked under an OCD specialist in private practice named Christin Brown in Danvers, MA. I led multiple OCD support groups for teens, adults, and family members of those with OCD and took individual clients through ERP treatment. I also worked at Victory Bay in Woburn, MA where I continued my OCD treatment practice in both individual and group settings.
I am a firm believer in taking a strengths-based approach to therapy which emphasizes a client’s strengths to use in the fight against OCD. I am intentional in taking a trauma-informed and client-centered methodology in treating clients. I am also passionate about combining tools from multiple modalities such as CBT, ACT, and DBT to treat people in a holistic manner to best suit each person’s needs. I strive to understand each client on a systemic level and help treat additional co-morbidities such as anxiety and depression.
Past clients have described me as enthusiastic, kind, encouraging, empathetic, passionate, engaging, and inspiring.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé and my cat, playing board games, traveling, tennis, and watching movies and television.
